Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a huge and constantly evolving discipline. Getting your website to the top of Google’s search results is not a science but an art. At Greaves Design, we’re skilled and experienced at boosting our clients’ Google rankings, using a variety of different methods, all of which are tailored to each individual website.

We create a bespoke strategy for each website, the continually review and adapt this, according to the way in which SEO and Google’s rules continue to evolve and change. It doesn’t matter whether or not we built your website – we can still make sure it’s optimised for Google and do other work to boost its rankings.

Types of SEO

There are two different kinds of categories of search results: organic results and paid-for results.

Organic Results: This is our forte and what most businesses are interested in.

A typical SEO strategy will involve a variety of different elements and tasks, which all work together to
improve a website’s performance in search results. These could include some or all of the following:

If you run a small business or work in a niche market, your SEO strategy will usually be built around targeting the geographical area where you work and the service you provide. For example, if you are a company who offers paving services in Farnborough, this is a small business SEO approach because you’re only in competition with other businesses who specialise in “paving” and who work in “Farnborough”.

What we actually do will depend on whether or not we’ve already built your website for you, and how well your website is already performing in Google. However, it could include:

  • Ensuring the content has the basic SEO keywords in place (it will if we built the site for you, but may need some more work if another company built the website)
  • Reviewing your website to find out whether it’s built in such a way that will enhance your SEO results or not, and advising you on what needs to be done to it.

If your company operates in a very competitive market or on a national scale, this presents more of a challenge for SEO. That’s not to say that we can’t get you up the Google rankings however! The techniques will just be different. For example, if you sell “property in Spain,” this is obviously a very competitive market which has been established for several decades. You’ll be competing against hundreds of other companies for the top SEO spots.

All this means your SEO strategy will need to be very different, but at Greaves Design we are up to the challenge. Some of the things we can do as part of your SEO strategy might include:

  • Writing lots of compelling articles about subjects related to your business, both on your websites and elsewhere on the web
  • Linking to trusted and respected websites in your industry, and getting them to link back to your website
  • Reaching out to other networks on the internet, for example through social media, to share and promote your content.

We’ll continually review and develop your SEO strategy, as it’s a constantly evolving and changing discipline. The rules for what works and what doesn’t change frequently, and so we’ll keep on top of these to keep you ahead of the curve. By choosing an SEO strategy that covers multiple activities and avenues, we also minimise the risk of your ranking being damaged if the rules do change.

If your company’s online presence is built around e-commerce or an online shop, then a very different approach is needed for SEO. This is because you may have 1000 or more product pages on your website, as opposed to 20 or so pages on a standard information website. If your website isn’t then optimised for SEO, you could be missing out on a large potential market.

In short, the principles are the same, so SEO could still include the following:

  • Choosing and using keywords
  • Articles
  • Link building.

However, a more focused approach will be required to prioritise the keywords and areas you want to focus on.
